OTAKEHO.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) CLOSING THE SCHOOL. A meeting of the Otakeho School Committee was held last night (Tuesday), at which the diphtheria outbreak was discussed. It was reported that there had been a case-of a school child who had contracted the complaint who was now an inmate of the Hawera Hospital. All members pz-esent agreed that steps should be immediately taken to prevent a further spread of the epidemic. The following resolution was moved by Mr Eaves : That on account of the outbreak of diphtheria in Otakeho, and with a view to checking the spread in the district, we deem it advisable that the school be closed indefinitely, and consider that it would be in the best interests and health if all other schools, including Sunday schools, were also closed. Further, that we readily endorse the action of the Hawera Hospital Board in the resolution passed by them in this direction." This was seconded by Mr E. Putt and carried unanimously.
