SECOND DIVISION.
PALMERSTON LEAGUE RESOLU TIONS.
*_**" TELEGRAPH—PRESS .SSOCIATION. PALMERSTON N.. May 14. A largely-attended meeting of the Second Division League passed a resolution of loyalty and asking the Government to provide more adequately for soldiers' wives. In answer to a question, the chairman said that in many cases in which applications to the Financial Assistance Board for assistance towards paying fire and life insurance premiums had been turned down, further representa-l tion s by the central executive had been successful wholly or in part in securing reconsideration of the claims made. The meeting also requested the Government to remit the sentences on Hunt, Langley, and Flood, of Christchurch, on the ground that they were unduly severe, and as such calculated to produce a feeling of resentment and lessen the public faith in the fairness of the authorities.
