RETURNED SOLDIERS
ARRIVAL OF ANOTHER DRAFT
BI TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION,
AUCKLAND, May 14. The majority of the men who arrived by a troopship were wounded in the fighting around Passchendaele in October. There are a number of cases of tuberculosis, due to the effects of gas and of shell shock, but the men as a whole were benefited by the voyage. About 250 cot cases embarked, but only 80 remained on arrival. Electric massage apparatus, shipped in England, proved of great value, many men owing their present condition to the treatment received on the voyage. Over 7000 treatments were given.
