Recently the Hawera police received complaints of children having been interfered with in the King Edward Park, as the result of which last week a foreigner, of Portuguese and Indian blood, was arrested upon a serious charge. The accused appeared before Mr W. R. Haselden, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court this morning, when two informations were preferred against him. The accused pleaded guilty to one charge and not guilty on the other. He was committed to the Supreme Court at New Plymouth for sentence on the charge to' which he had pleaded guilty, and for trial on the second charge.
