COMMENT ON THE CLARE
ELECTION
8Y CABLE—PEESS A SSOCIATIOH—COPYRIGHT.
(Received July 13, 11.40 a.m.)
LONDON, July 12. The Sinn Feiner's election campaign was excellently organised, and Devaelera had the services of plenty of motor cars, speakers, canvassers, and a large number of Roman Catholic priests. He was assisted much by money from America, which is believed 10 have come from a German source.
Pessimists among the Redmondists say that no Nationalist seat is now s afe outside the city of Dublin. Recent elections prove that a large number of younger Irishmen have revolted against the Nationalist, party machine. The feature of'the present situation which is most alarming the Unionists is the apparent breakdown of discipline of the Roman Catholic Church. Many teachers in national schools are propagating revolutionary doctrines without any discouragement from uriests, and the bishops' recent instructions to Clergy are being completely ignored.
