MANAIA.
(From Our Own Correspondent)
The returned soldiers' social, held in the Manaia Town Hall on Wednesday evening, despite bad weather conditions and counter-attractions, was well attended. As the object for which the social was held io most worthy it should have been even better supported. The floor was in good order, the music was • supplied by Cosgrove's Orchestra, and the supper was first class. The duties of M.C.'s were ably carried out by Messrs J. Daley and R. Hughes. Extras were played by Mrs Calder, Misses Hodge, Keppell, Howard and Mr Rastel. Many thanks are due to Mesdames Sutherland, Wells, Donald, B. Vine, and Misses Beard, Wells, Sutherland and Barleyman for the able help they rendered to make the social a success. Great credit is due to Mr W. Couper for the manner in which he carried out his many duties. The committee return thanks to Mr J. Dunn for the loan of furniture, and Mrs Mitchell for a donation of 10s.
