TIMBER RATES UNDER REVIEW
[By Telegraph. —Special to the Star.] WELLINGTON, July 11.
Mr Pearce has asked the Government whether, considering that all white pine is wanted in this country for butter boxes, they will cease sibsidising its export in charging cheaper railway rates on white pine consigned to a port for export than that consigned' to butterbox factories in New Zealand.
The Minister of Railways has replied that the rates on timber are under consideration.
