Rev. E. O. Blamires left by mail train to-day for Taihape, where he has to attend several important meetings. Mr E. C. Russell, who has been for some time attached to the Bank of New Zealand staff at Hawera, left for Raetihi this morning, where he will take the position of accountant. The funeral 'of the late Mr Sam Dixon on Sunday was attended by a large number of' Orangemen, of which lodge Mr Dixon was first secretary in Hawera. Rev. E. O. Blamires conducted the burial service, making sympathetic reference in his address to Mr Dixon's long association with the life of Hawera and to the trials associated with the pioneers of the Dominion.
