DOMINION SHOW.

AND BRITISH TRADERS' EXHIBITION.

The closing day of the exhibition was very successful. The fine weather brought in large numbers from the country, and the show was crowded all the day and evening. The takings were ahead of last year. In the aggregate the door takings are about £70 above those of last year. The space takings also are considerably increased. CLOSING SCENES. The Salvation Army Silver Band, , who played outside the show during I the evening, collected in the main hall about ten o'-clock and placed several ' good selections. Before they left theygave the old time favorite "Should ; auld acquaintance be forgot." \ I PRESENTATION. j After the closing hour the British j exhibitors invited the directors to their ' hall and there made a presentation of i a handsome silver entree dish to Mr ' L. 0. Hooker, show manager, as an expression of their appreciation of his . efforts on their behalf and the tact and courtesy shown by him during the • show. His health and that of the i ishow were toasted heartily. The I \ gathering dispersed with many expressions of goodwill and wishes of good luck for future exhibitions. i POINTS FRIZES AND SPECIALS. ArundeL Honey (challenge cup): C. F. Ramie. . j WRESTLING. On Saturday evening a very large number of people witnessed the match between Private P. Woods ,from ! Featherston Camp) lighjt-weight champion of England, and Joe Gardiner, middle-weight champion of New Zealand. The match was made for £20 aside, Gardiner to throw Woods in 15 j minutes. It was a very fine exposition of Catch-as-catch-can wrestling, and at the end of the time neither had secured a fall and Woods won the stake. It is understood a match has be.en arranged for a fortnight hence between Gardiner and a local wrestler.
