AUCKLAND RECOMMENDATIONS.
AUCKLAND, May 25. As the outcome of criticism by MrArthur Gillies, expert adviser to theNational Efficiency Commissioner regarding the Farmers' Union Conference resolution advocating conscription, of alien labor, the conference resolved: "This conference wishes it distinctly understood that in passing the remit with regard to the" conscription of" alien labor, we had no thought or desire to obtain cheap labor for ourfarms. Our recommendation was that labor be used for national purposes." It was further added that the laborconscripted be placed at the disposal of the Efficiency Board. It was resolved that the alleged action of the American Meat Trust in hew Zealand be a matter for consideration of the incoming executive, and that means be taken to combat' that body.
