TAKANAKI WOOL, SKIN, HIDE AND TALLOW SALE.

Mr Newton King reports: At my montly sale of the above prodiice, held oh October 17, I offered the following catalogue: Sixteen bales and 60 sacks wool, ISOS sheepskins, 5 casks and 42 tins' tallow, 548 hides, and 3841 calfskins. There was a good attendance oi: buyers, and bidding was exceptionally spirited throughout. Prices for crutchings showed an advance of fd. per lb. There was a keen demand for 1 sheepskins, and I secured from 12|d to 13d per lb for all good sound pelted butchers' skinSj and up. to 22s each for full-woolled skins. Both the above prices are the highest yet received at my sales. Cow hides also showed a distinct advance of fully |d to fd, ox Hides generally being a shade easier. Butchers' cow sold up to llfd, and farmers' cow to 10-Jd. Tallow was firm at late rates. Calfskins again advanced Id to |d per lb, wi£h the demand unsatisfied at the higher range. I quote:
