On Thursday, September 28th, w© held out* Kohuratahi sale, when we had a fair • yarding,! and have to report a good sale. Prices: Store cows (small) £5 17s, medium £6 6s, fair weight' £7 15s, yearling, heifers (small) £3 15s1 to £3 19s 6a, yearling steers £3 19s. 6d to £5 7e, 2J-year steers, up to £10 10s,-2-year-old empty heifers £6 to £6 10s, wethers 90s lid to 32s 2d, hoggets; 25s 6d to 255.

On Friday, September 29th, we held our sale at Mata, bui owing to the very wet and stormy «yeathei the, yarding was small, but everything was cleared at. full ■ market values.

There was a large entry and variety, all breeds being well j represented. Shorthorns w,ere in good' demand, and tnose entered by Mr J Jas. R. Cqrvigan sold well, as well as a few pedigree Jerseys. Prices: Jerseys from • lOgns to 28gns, Holstems j (nothing choice) £7 10s to £9 15s for small, fair £10 5s to £12 10s, Shorthorns £9 15s to £13 for small, £13 10s to £15 15s for medium, good Shorthorns 16gns to "27gus. On Tuesday, 17th inst., we held our usual fortnightly sale at Stratford. We had a good yarding of both store and dairy cattle and pigs, and cleared' everything at the hammer or after- j wards at advanced prices. There was j keen competition for most lines. In the dairy yards we had a nice line of heifers from jSlr D. M. Pitcaithley, which elicited keen competition. Small heifers brought £6 os to £8 15s, fair £9 10s to £10 ss, good £11 to £12 7s 6d. Pigs: Slips (small) made 11s, medium 15s, good slips 20s. . ' On Tuesday, 17th inst., we held our monthly sale of wool, sheepskins, hides j and tallow. We offered a very fair j catalogue to a spirited bunch of buyers. Sheepskins were in keen demand, and showed an advance on last sale rates of £d to 3d per lb. Oddments of woo] realised full values, whilst hides and calfskins were much sought after and at advanced prices. » The following prices were obtained: —Sheepskins: Pelts (inferior) 3Jd per lb, crossbred (torn, little wool) s|d, three-quarter and full-woolled skins 12Jd to 12fd, damaged 9|d to lOd, dead lOid, damp skins 9s: Id each, butchers' sheepskins (dry) 12|d per lb, butchers' salted skins 9s 6d to 13s 8d each.
