Mr W. A. Coin's has been reappointed the New Plymouth Borough Council's representative on the Egmont National Park Board. A Perth message announces the death of Sir J. W. Hackett, M.L.C., and proprietor and editor of the West Australian and Western Mail. Mrs Leatham (widow of the late Mr Henry Lieatham and mother of Dr Leatham) died at New Plymouth, yesterday, at the age of 88 years. She arrived in New Zealand as "a girl with her parents (Mr and Mrs John Newland) in 1841, by the Amelia Thompson. Miss Newland, librarian at Hawera, is a niece of the deceased lady.
