ELTHAM.
EXPERIENCES AT GALLIPOLI
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The, Rev. Chaplain McMennen, who went to the front with the Wellington Battalion New Zealand Rifle Brigade in the Main Expeditionary Force, con- j ducted the sen-ices at the Roman Cath-1 olic Church, Eltham, on Sunday. There were large congregations at both services, when the chaplain gave a most interesting and graphic account of the landing and engagements of the troops at the Peninsula. In a racy and fluent style he detailed the difficulties the troops had to contend with, the different engagements, positions and reasons for the enormous losses which the Australian and New Zealand troops sustained. He paid a fine tribute to those troops, who, for courage and initiation, could not be beaten. He spoke of the late Colonel Malone as a most able, devoted and courageous soldier. The address was much appreciated. TERRITORIALS. The Eltham Territorials left for camp on Monday morning.
