BOROUGH COUNCIL.

. An adjourned meeting of the Eltham Borough Council was held on- Friday night, all the members, except Cr. Tristram, who was out of town, being present. . The Council went into committee to consider the estimates for the ensuing year and on resuming reported that the estimates, as submitted, had been adopted. , It was resolved that the usual public notice be given to strike general and special rates.* It was resolved to make an appointment for the combined positions of caretaker of the Domain and the Ngaere cemetery at a salary of £150 per annum; and to advertise for applications for- the position of junior clerk, at a salary of £150 per annum. POTI DOMAIN. The Council decided to give effect to the recommendations contained in letter from Mr C. A Wilkinson, as follows: "Re Poti Domain As promised, I interviewed the Land Office regarding the above. At present you cannot spend money derived from the above on any other than the property itself. I have suggested that the two Domains (Poti and Taumata) be merged into one, both to be called by the same .name. Thus you will have power to spend money received from one property on the other, if you find it desirable to do so. It would simplify matters if a common name such as the. Eltham Domain, or the Eltham Recreation Ground could be used. If this is acceptable to you, please advise me, and I will take steps to have the matter put in order. It is possible, of course, that there may be trouble, but I think the matter can be adjusted."
