MUNITIONS MANUFACTURE
CONFERENCE OF ENGINEERS
BY TELBGBAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, Sep. 3. -At the invitation, of the Hon. A. M. Myers, Minister in Charge of Muni- * tions and Supplies, between thirty and forty of the leading engineers and ex- - perts of the Dominion met in conference this morning for the purpose of considering whether it is practicable and feasible to manufacture munitions of war in this country. The conference made an inspection of an exhaustive exhibit of munitions and equipment arranged by the Defence authorities, and Brigadier-General Robin explained the requirements of the military authorities in the matter. It was ultimately resolved that the following gentlemen be appointed a committee to draw up a report if possible in time to submit to a conference of engineers which is taking place m.Christchurch on Tuesday next: Professor Scott, chairman (Christchurch), Mr H. H. Jackson (chief mechanician engineer N.Z. Railways), Mr W Price (of Messrs A. G. Price, Thames), Mr J. Stevenson (Port Chalmers), Mr J. Keir (P. and D. Duncan. Christchurch), and Professor Easterfield (Victoria College, Wellington).
