Captain C. J. Hollard, of Kaponga, left tor Wellington this morning,. and will enter the training camp at Trentham on Monday.

Leave of absence*for the remainder of the session has been granted to the Hon. J. A. Millar. M.L.C, on account of ill-health.

Mr D. Long, who at one time was teller at the New Plymouth branch of the Bank of New Zealand, has been appointed secretary to the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company, in succession to Mr H. G. Stringer, who has been appointed manager for the Oroua Freezing Company. Mr Long has been accountant for the company during the past, 10 years.

Mr G. A. Robbie, who recently resigned the position of headmaster of the Patea District High School in order to join the Eighth Reinforcements, has been appointed quartermaster-sergeant to F Company.

. A cablegram has been received by Mr \V. T. Jennings M.P., from his son, Lieut. Harold Jennings, of the Imperial Royal Field Artillery Force, stating that he was to leave. England yesterday, and that his brother, Sergeant Jennings, of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, is in hospital at Malta, suffering from enteric. Mr Jennings' other son, Edgar, was recently killed in the trenches at Gallipoli by a bomb thrown from one of the Turkish trenches.
