A SUGGESTION.

To the Editor.

Sir,—l crave a small portion of your valuable paper to voice, a grievance which needs Being a > frequent visitor to your town, and living within the vicinity of your railway station, very often the nights are made hideous by the loud, barking of doss —(please note the jplural)—&t the yards when sheep and cattle are being trucked. Last Thursday night it was simply disgraoeful, and to the writer it seemed that the barking went on all through the night. I cannot understand why the citizens have allowed this to go on so long. Surely there i& a remedy. Why all, this barking of dogs and shouting by men, especially when people want their rest? I would like to make a suggestion, which Fm sure would do away with the nuisance— namely, why not use the electric power which Hawera boassts of ? This could be used by connecting a live wire to a long rod, and a touch (by She man who is trucking) to the animals would speak for itself. I am sura the night noises are a real grievance even to those of us who enjoy good health, but what must it be to those who do not? The | parents who have wakeful children could, I'm sure, do better than the writer in bringing before, the authorities the necessity^ for some improvement.

I trust some abler pen than mine will take this matter up for thergopd of your town and its good name. ;
