FATAL GAS EXPLOSION

BY TELEGRAPH—VBESS ASSOCIATION. DTJNEDIN, May 21. Mary McWhinnie, aged 53, formerly of North Otago, was killed by a gas explosion at Tarras. It was stated at the inquest >that deceased while carrying a naked light opened the gas ■chamber of an acetylene plant. The forca of the explosion fractured her skull, and death ensued in 24 hours.
