81 T.ELEGKAi»H—P^ESS ASSOCIAfION., WANGANUI, May 20. The Wanganui J.C, winter meeting opened to-day in lovely weather. There is a very ltrge attendance. Results: — Borough Handicap.— Bimeter 1. Hoy > 2, Veroneal 3. Scratched: Goldstream and King Chiara. Won by half a length. Time, 1.14. I. Hack. Steeplechase.—Soporific 1 The Diver 2,-Nita 3. All started. Won by six lengths. Time, 4.3 3-5. Wanganui Steeplechase.—Daylight Bill 1, Jackman 2, Addnought 3 Scratched: Dorando, Sandy Paul, Leapuki. Won by fifteen lengths, with three lengths between second and third. Only the placed horses finished. The winner took command early and gave a splendid exhibition of jumping. Time b.Ji. 1-5.
