NORMANBY.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) PRESBYTERIAN SOCIAL. Continuing their 36th anniversary celebrations, the members of the Presbyterian Church held a tea meeting and social in the Town Hall on Wednesday, 'vhen there was^ large attenda-nee, representing all denominationsv of the town and. district. The four large tables were well filled twice, and the ladies are to be congratulated on the very excellent tea provided. Those in charge of the various tables were:—j No. 1: Mesdames Linn, Edwards and Archbold; No. 2, Mesdames Balsillie, Beven, Kilvington, and Miss A. Linn; No. 3. Mesdames Stewart and Butler, and Misses Linn and Walker; No. 4, Mrs Hay ward and Misses V". Antrobus, Stewart and Edwards. After the tables had been cleared, the Hawera Presbyterian choir, under the baton of Mr Webb, rendered the cantata '"Ruth." The soloists and chorus,, one and all, sang their parts excellently-; they showed very careful training, and their conductor is to be heartily congratulated on the result. The soloists were: Naomi, Miss E. Young-, Ruth, Miss P. Young; Orpah, *liss Campbell; Boaz, Mr Green. Mr R. F. Page played the accompaniments in a sympathetic manner. Mr G. M. Mitchell, in proposing a vote of thanks to- Mr Webb and the choir, said it was seldom that Nor^ manby people had" such a treat, and the hearty applause that followed showed tkat this expression was endorsed by those present. Mr Webb suitably replied. Parlor games were th" ea entered into very heartily by.y®ung aed old.
