In fche Assembly, Mr Holman stated that he proposes to - introduce a Bill to permit loans being raised at a higher rate of interest than 4 per cent., and also a temporary measure for retrenchment in the Public Service. .Regarding unemployment, he said that only 3 per cent, of the population of New South Wales was unemployed, ;and the Government contemplates building canvas houses during the summer for families without homes.

MELBOURNE, Sep. 23. A farmer informed the Commodities Commission that the present wheat seaeon was. the worst for 46 years. Mr Fisher, at the show luncheon, "took an opportunity of assuring the cooperation of the Federal Parliament with the Mother Country and that her Dominion was with her in success or difficulties. He would tell her again »nd the enemy too, if they cared to near, that Australia was prepared to be sacrificed with her if necessity arose.
