HASTINGS, May 6. The Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's autumn meeting opened to-day in hne weather, but the going was heavy as the result of recent ram. The attendance was a record. The totalisator handled '£23,656, as against £15,429 on the corresponding day last year. Results: —

Porangahau Handicap.—2 Valhalla 1, 6 Lady Louisa 2, Day Fly 3. Also started: Ermengarde (bracketed with Bertrada), 4 Postillion, 1 Merry Roe, 5 Gipsy Belle, 9 Beldame, 10 Ebcene,----7 Despatch Carrier, 11 Evadne. Won by a length. Time, lmin 25s'ec.
