EGMONT A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

COMMITTEE MEETING

A committee meeting of the Egmont A. and P. Association was held at the office of the secretary (Mr F. G .Treweek) on Saturday. Present: Messrs B. C. Lysaght (president), E. Nalder, A. Hunter, 0. Hawken, L. Hamilton, J. Hunter, T. A. Winks, W. Wren, R. J. Linn, F. Gillanders, N. Brown E. Washer, J. Grant, S. Tonks, H. Middleton, J. Stevenson, D. J. Willis, and A. Good. VOTE OF CONDOLENCE. On the motion of the president, seconded by Mr O. Hawken, the secretary was instructed to forward a letter of condolence with'the family of the late Mr Bremer in their recent bereavement. The president said that the late Mr Bremer was a staunch member of the association, and a very useful committeeman. CONFERENCE OF SOCIETIES. The president reported that a conference of the Taranaki A. and P. Associations and the Wanganui A. and P. Association had been arranged for April 6, at Hawera, to discuss matters of interest, and more particularly with reference to instructions to the representative on the Board of Agriculture. Messrs A. S. Tonks, B. C. Lysaght, | and O. Hawken were appointed delegates to represent the association at the conference. It was decided that suggestions for the conference should be left in the hands of the secretary. GYMKHANA. The advjsableness of holding a gymkhana during winter show week was discussed. The secretary stated that the military _ authorities, while thanking the association for their treatment of the competitors at last year's gymkhana, would _be unable to take an active part in the management of a gymkhana this year .owing to the late camps and other military engagements, but they would be willing to assist by providing a few military events. - Members considered that if a good general programme of. events were put on, including a few military items, the gymkhana would be a success. / J The president moved that the assoH ciation should hold a /gymkhana dur-1 ing winter show week. Mr Gillanders seconded the motion, which was carried. The president moved that the gymkhana- be held on the Thursday in i show week. Mr Winks seconded the motion. Mr Nalder moved an amendment that the gymkhana, be held on the Friday. He did not think Thursday was a suitable day. being Rale day. Mr J. Hunter seconded this, and the amendment was carried by 10 votes to 6. i THE SECRETARYSHIP. ( Twenty-two applications were received for the position of secretary. The applications were read out, and it was decided that they be referred [to a Siih-oommiU^e consisting of the i president, Messrs Nalder, O. Hawken,. R. J. Linn, arid A. Hunter, to narrow the names down to three, and to report to a meeting of the general committee.
