Ihe cricket match between Australia and South Canterbury took place in fine weather and before a good attendance The home team were the whole day leather hunting. Australia last evening had three wickets down for 117 runs. The not out men, McGregor and Cody, took the score to 180. Crawford was the next man, then Ransford and Trumper.. They piled up the runs rapidly, breaking records. Crawford hit fourteen out of the grounds, and made 50 in 13 minutes, 50 in ten, and so on. Trumper pleased the onlookers immensely by his crisp and safe batting. He made 60 in j 32 minutes, 100 in 54. He got 21 boundaries and one six. Over 200 runs were" scored in the last hour.
