FORMER RESIDENT OF HAWERA INJURED.

The Auckland Herald reports that, on Sunday last, Mr A. E. Wilkinson, of Pukekohe Hill, was charged by a. bull. It was a pedigree Jersey, and was being driven through a gate when turned, and before Mr VVilkinson was able to get away from the animal, it tossed him through an. adjacent barb-wire fence, the latter fortunately proving a barrier to the animal committing further mischief. When picked up, Mr Wilkinson was round fo be suffering severely from abrasions on the chest.and other parts of the body, where he had been struck by the bull, while his hands and arms; were - considerably lacerated by the barbs of the wire. - ■

Another accident with a Jersey bull' occurred on the Pukekohe Hill recently, when a settler, Mr Sydney Boyd for--merly a resident of Hawera, was severely injure^. Mr Boyd was engaged: in doing some work in his stockyard; when he was suddenly charged by" the-■wall,-which-pinned him to the ground, the horn of the animal ripping him in the grom, and badly cutting .one of his legs at the back of the knee. Aaemployee, who was near at the time managed to drive the infuriated animal! oft, -and but- for this prompt assistancethe accident would probably have been attended with fatal results. As it is the sufferer has been confined to his; bed tor several weeks past under medical attention.
