THE GILLESPIE CASE.
ACCUSED PLEADS GUILTY

PALMERSTON N., Dec. 20.
After evidence had been given at the Magistrate's Court in connection with the charges against O. N. Gillespie, Gillespie, in his statement, after admitting each charge, said he desired to state personally that he had not received or used any moneys for his own benefit. The moneys had been used to pay other creditors of trust: accounts,* whose moneys he had lost By carelessness or . negligence. He concluded, "The hopeless state of muddle into which my bpoks got seriously affected my health, otherwise I feel sure I should not have left New Zealand as I did. Later, in Australia, I realised the proper course was to come ba*ck and render ray best assistance to the Official Assignee in connection with my bankruptcy. I came back entirely of my own account, and without any out-; side pressure.". . Accused pleaded guilty. Bail was refused, and he was committed for i sentence to Wellington on Tuesday,
