NEW ZEALAND TEAM IN AUSTRALIA.

BRISBANE, Dec. 21. The New Zealand cricketers opened their niatch with the Queensland eleven yesterday, before several thousand spectators. The wicket was soft. Evans, the Queensland captain, won the toss and elected to field. The visitors scored 89, to which Queensland replied with 124. In their second innings the New Zealanders have four wickets down- for 64. The individual scores were as follow:— '

New Zealand.. — : First innings: Shedden 2, Tuckwell 9, Hemus 14, Reese 7, Hickmott 19, Sandman 9, Patrick 10, Robinson 2, Taylor 5, Bennett 1, Boxshall, not out, 7; sundries, 4; total 89. Barstow took five wickets for 47 runs, and Ironmonger four for 28;

Queensland. —First innings: Fent nelly 2, Rowe 3, Farquhar 3, Marshall 42, Prout 14, Cossarto. 0, Downey; 3, Barstow 0, Griffiths 0, Evafls 30, Ironmonger, not out, 3; sundries, 24; total, 124. Reese took seven wickets for 53 runs, Bennett three for 40, and Snedden none for 7.
