Commenting on New Zealand's action ~ with respect to defence, the Herald says that ;the New Zealand" Government, is wise in drawing attention to' the growth. «f . national Imperial consciousness, which is likely.ta result from the de- ' velopment of a naval force-in the Do-' minion. The military schemes of both ' the Commonwealth and New Zealand - * should do much to bind all classes to- ' -gather in a common desire to serve the land, and thus a sense of common^ nationhood should be stimulated and thrive.
