HAWKER'S ACCIDENT
BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION -COPYRIGHT. (Received Oct. 9, 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 8. Hawker was attempting an 190-mile Tion-stop flight, when his engine got into trouble and caused a side-slip. The machine was too low to recover its equilibrium. In the fall the engine was torn from its fastenings and crashed through an unoccupied passenger seat, .missing Hawker by a couple of feet. Hawke's back was severely injured, but liis condition is not dangerous.
