At the Hut't (Wellington) Horticultural Society's show on Thursday last Mr R. Gibson, of Kaponga, was awarded a special prize' for the champion •chort trumpet daffodil of the show. It wa6 called "Gannet," and had white avings with a yellow cap. He was also .awarded second place in the competition collection of narcissi, for the challenge silver vase (the bare trophy value 30 puineas). When it is considered that Mr Gibson had to pick his flowers at 3 a.m , train to Wellington, and then stage his blooms, his success must lie considered especially gratifying. The Dominion reports that the number of entries and their quality his never been surpassed, and the interior of the large hall, with its white Avails and decorative trellis work r formed art admirable background for the wealth of blooms which were displayed. Entries for F. R. Jackson and Co.'s "Waverley sale are advertised. Sykee's Drench will give you satisfaction .; — A 3 Vt.
