BRITISH POLITICS.
A BITTER CONTROVERSY.
UY CABLE— PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT,
(Received Sept. 6, 12.30 p.m.) i LONDON, Sept. 5. An angry controversy is in progress between Mr Lloyd George and Lord Wolmer. Mr Lloyd George accuses Lord Wolmer of misrepresenting the facts in regard to Marconi purchases, and of being guilty of mean falsehoods and calculated lies. Lord Wolmer, he says, is not particular as to consequences, but like other calumniators distorts mischievous inferences from innocent facts. Lord Wolmer and his family had been peculiarly offensive in negotiating huge contracts with the Government when in office, and in common decency he should repudiate such transacions if he wanted to take a high line respecting a Minister's invest-, ments. Lord Wolmer and his fellow Cecils should begin their lessons at home, and he could furnish them with instances for their instruction.
