GOLF.

• Hawera sent a team of ten men to Inglewood, and after a series of interesting matches beat the Northerners by 7 to 2 (one match was unfinished, but at the end of nine holes the Inglewood player was 2 up). The visitors were treated most hospitably by Inglewood, the ladies supplying afternoon tea. Results are as follow, Inglewood players being mentioned first in each case: Gudgeon 1 (1 up), O'Callaghan 0; Thomson 0, Gillies 1 (1 up); Johnston 0, Tarrant 1 (8 up and 7); Gault, Tonks (unfinished); Brown 1 (3 up and 1), Sutton 0; Lewis 0, Stevens 1 (4 up and 2); Surrey 0, Page 1 (3 up and 2); Gibbs 0, Foyster 1 (6 up and 1) ; Finch 0, Pratt 1 (8 up and 6). The Inglewood greens are in capital order, but the fairway is in parts a little rough. Quite a lot of work in the way of drainage of swamps has been done since last year.
