SHIPBUILDING WORKERS' STRIKE.

RESULT OF BALLOT

BT (ÜBTiß—taiSS A.SSOCIi.TIO!I-COPY&I9HI.

Received June 5, 10.30 a.m. LONDON, June 4. The result of the shipyard unions' ballot is that 12.215 favor a strike, and 4348 a postponement.

A London cablegram, dated May 2, stated: The unrest of shipyard workers is growing. The members of various unions in the federated districts have been circularised and asked to decide whether they will accept the masters' proposal to adjourn the request for increased wages for three months or notify a strike unless the demands are conceded. In a later message, dated London, May 17, it was added that the unions participating in the ballot cabled on May 2 represented 110,000 skilled workers, but if, as several large employers fear, it leads to a strike in June, half a .million will be affected. There have been three successive advances of 5 per cent, since the 1910 Act.
