MANAIA GUN CLUB

The opening matches of this club were held on the club's grounds on Wednesday m ideal weather, from a shootisL's view point. Visiting clubs were well represented—about thirty gun men facing the traps. It was the unanimous opinion of visitors that the Manaia Cub's ground ranks easily first for good shooting and general arrangements. Ti»e preliminary match was won by Messrs J. Russell and W. J. McDonald, who tied with the possible. The second, and chief match of the day, fell to Messrs K. Ilutchinson and Brown, who also tied vith the possible (twelve birds <Bach). • The third sweep was won by Mr Lindberg with the possible, Mr Preb 'being second with four. The fourth sweep, decided on one barrel only, was divided by Messrs Preo and X* Hutohiusqn. This match provided the best shooting of the day —twelve birds each oa one barrel only. An excellent luiieh and refreshments were provided on the ground;, by the club, which is to be congratulated on its highly successful open?p.g day.
