PRESENTATION.
On Wednesday the staff of the Hawera Electric Company sprang a little surprise on the retiring secretary Mr J P. Dugdale, by asking him to meet them at the office. Mr E. Evans, the engineer in charge, then asked him to accept from them as a slight token of esteem a handsome travelling rug. In making the presentation Mr Evans expressed the regret they felt at his departure, acknowledged the cordial relations which, had prevailed among them, and expressed the hope that the rest and change he was to get would restore him to health and strength. Mr Dugdale thanked them most cordially for the kindly feelings that prompted the gift. At the call of Mr Carrick, three cheers were given. Mr j Dugdale expects to leave for the north ' in the course of a week, and will be . away about six or seven weeks.
