HEAVY RAIN IN HAWKE'S BAY.

BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. NAPIER, Oct. 24. Very heavy rain has been experienced 'for the past two days, more particularly in the country, and the rivers are flooded. Owing to the mouth of the Esk blocking, the adjacent flats are submerged to a depth of 3ft. The mouth has been re-opened and the flood water is getting away rapidly. Over 2in. of rain fell in the town during the last 24 hours. Shearing operations will be greatly delayed, and the prospects for the first sale of the season next month are anything but promising.
