MOTUROA-OPUNAKE RAILWAY.

DEPUTATION TO MINISTER

The Mayor of New Plymouth presided at a meeting there on Wednesday evening, the objects of which were, he explained, to form a railway league to get into • touch with the Government and bring under their notice the Motu-roa-Opunake railway. A deputation should, he considered, be sent to Wellington to endeavor to have a gum of money placed on the Estimates to survey "£ne whode length from Moturoa to Te Roti. 'After discussion it was resolved to form a Western Taranaki Railway League, and Messrs Newton King, A. H. Johnstone, A. Morton and W. J. Perm were appointed a deputation to proceed to Wellington on Saturday to wait on the Minister of Public Works. It was also resolved to ask the Mayor of New Plymouth, and the chairmen of the Taranaki County Council, New Plymouth Harbor Board and Parihaka Road Board to accompany them.
