LONDON, July 12. The Prime Minister, Mr Asquith, presided over a meeting of the Defence Committee.

Mr Borden, Prime Minister of Canada, and other members of the Canadian Cabinet, Lord Haldane, Mr Lloyd George, and Mr AA rinston Churchill also attended.

■ Mr Churchill and Mr Bordenl will shortly discuss the general basis of the naval question before the formal conference begins.
