LATE SIR J. L. CAMPBELL.

A UCKLAND. June 25

The funeral of Sir John Logan Canpbell took place to-day, nearly all the shops in the city being closed during the afternoon. As arranged, the body was laid to rest on the crest of Maungakiekie. Among the many wreaths sent was one from the Governor and Lady Islington. Colonel Campbell (a cousin of tbe deceased) was the chief mourner, and Mr J. Colvin represented the Government. The procession was Avitnessed by thousands, dense crowds gathering at many points. Before tbe burial service Canon McMurray read a short dedication service, the grave not bein'> in consecrated ground. There were' 160 vehicles in the procession.
