At the sitting of the Education Commission this morning, Dean Fitchett appeared on behalf of the Bible in State Schools League, representing the Anglican, Presbyterian, Methodist, and Primitive Methodist Churhes, comprising, according to the census, about 70 per cent, of the population. The object of the League was to secure a referendum into the question of introducing the New South Wales system of religious instruction into State Schools. Bishop Neville, Primate of New Zealand, also gave evidence in support of the system. The Commission left by the second express for Christchurch.
