PALMERSTON NORTH, June 24
The ninth National Dairy Show was opened by Lord Islington in fine but dull weather to-day. In many respects the show is superior to previous fixtures The agreement arived at with the Powltry Association resulted in a splendid exhibition of poultry, and one of the best ever seen in Palmerston. As usual, the cheese and butter competitions form an impoi'tant section. The judges are well pleased on the whole, and in their citicism point out ■that some butter entries have suffered Krom comparatively long storage, and ■best reveals a certain amount of staleKess. A larger number than usual lost for colour, which is put down Ho improper working. The cheese is ■representative of all North Island factories, and is of better appearance than
