At the monthly meeting of this Council the correspondence included a letter irom the secretary of the Mangatoki Co-operative Dairy Company to the effect that they had no intention of surrendering their lease of the Mahoo Lrrayel Reserve, and enclosing a chequeQTn£ &"* re x neT al of the annual rental. «,5i +w ? W"* 1". in Ws report, said that in the South Riding during the month the boulder contract so far as it had progressed, had been measured up, and the various heaps would now be broken down to gauge. He proposed ordering the necessary timber for the renewal of a small bridge on tn» Jbinnerty Road at once, and putting tne _ work in hand as soon as Young's and MeCool's bridges were completed At the request of Cr. Smith he had fnTP eCr£ he Barclay Road,, south from the Waingongoro Road, with a viev of carrying the formation over the first stream. This could, he thought, be best done by a tunnel and a filling in preference to a small bridge. Foreman Robinson reported that in the West Riding, owing to the bad weather, the roads were breaking un very badly. Manaia Road south was breaking up very much and required a lot of repairing. A drain on-the road required cleaning out to take off the storm water. Bowen Road north was also breaking \\p fast, about 30 chains of it rpquirinn; to bo 'Brecon Road also was breaking up badly. RATES. General rates for the year were struck as follows: North Riding, 2^d in the £, East Riding, 2d; West Riding, 2Jd ; Mangaehu, 3d; South Riding, l^d. West Riding: Cardiff Road, 3d: Waingongoro Road fd; Hastings Road Jd (north and feouth), and Brooks and Brecon Roads, £d.
