C.E.M.S

DUNEDIN, June 21

At a conference of the Church of England Men's Society in the Diocese of Duruklin to-night, the question of appointing a permanent organising secretary for New Zealand was discussed. A letter was read from the Rev. Gordon Saville, English general secretary ef the Church of England Men's Society, stating that it was intended to offer certain districts a loan of £100 a year for three years to help towards securing a permanent organising secretary, the loan to be repaid on terms agreed on. After discussion, the desirability of having a permanent organising secretary was confirmed, but the meeting was strongly opposed to a loan, routendnig that the necessary money should t>e raised in the dominion.
