THE TREASURE SEEKERS
STEAMER TO BE SOLD
BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION
DTTNEDIN, June 21
Yesterday the officers and crew of th© treasure steamer Wairoa were paid off by Messrs Stevenson and Cook.
This afternoon application was made in the Admiralty Division of the Supreme Court by Mr W .C. MacGregor, acting for Messrs Stevenson and Cook. Stevenson and Cook had initiated an actoni for costs of repairs and necessaries. Then Mr E. C May applied for leave to intervene, and also applied that the suit be set aside. He now abandoned those proceedings, so that the only matter before Sir Joshua Williams was a motion for the sale of the ship. Mr MacGrecror mentioned that the claims were: Stevenson and Cook, nearly £500; wages (which they had advanced), nearly £40G^: and a mortgage of f'oOO. The first < laim would be wages, then the jnpffea^e, and if there w*»-r enoiigh^iefi Stevenson and Cook would get^p&id. His Honor made an order that Stevenson and Cook be at liberty to sell on consent of the registered ovrnf r (Mr D. Anderson) being: obtained and filed in the Court. Mr May is on his way to America with the expressed intention of bringing out another boat, fully equipped, to prosecute the quest.
