1 TOWN BOARD. A special meeting of the Board was held on Tuesday evening, prior to the general meeting. The adoption of bylaws for the control of water supply arid sanitation was gone into, and'it was resolved to make, by way of special order, liy-laws as recommended by the Board's engineer to that end. The Town Clevk advised the Board that all property owners had been circularised, advising them under what conditions the work of private installations of water and sanitary service might be proceeded with, and that ratepayers desirous of applying to the Board to do the work on their behalf, or for a small loan for that purpose, would shortly be .supplied with the necessary application forms to. enable them to 'do so. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board followed. Present: Comrs. Guy (Chairman), Betts, Melville, and Mills. The Eltha.m County Council wrote as to a conference on the administration of county roads in the town district. It was agreed that, subject to certain conditions, the clerk should arrange for the conference at the earliest convenient date. Mr A. E. King applied for snoil from the road for filling purposes.—The clerk was instructed to write to Mr King regretting that his request could not be acceded to, as the supply of material ior filling purposes Mas very limited', and might not in the future be sufficient for the Board's requirements. Mr Sargeson, proprietor of the Skating Rink, applied for a reduction in the hall tariff for skating.—Resolved j that a reduction of 5s per night be made. The unfinished state in which the work of altering the grade on the Elthara r.oad East had been left by the County Council's employees was referred to, as it is desirable the filling should be completed full width to allow of the laying of the water mams on that part of the road in a good permanent position. The chairman agreed to see the County Engineer and endeavor to arrange to' have the work completed without any further delay. _ Prices for tools for water mains and pipe-raying were received, and Mr Guy's quotations were accepted. The foreman reported that, in addition to surface work, the Board's leased portion of the Domain had been fenced and the cottage thereon converted into a stable, dray-shed, chaff-room, and tool-house. A .recommendation to remove the worn-out asphalt in front of Mr W. Gruar'd premises and to replace it with concrete was deferred for decision. The foreman was instructed to have gates erected on the Domain, to. give access to the portion leased privately and by the Board; also to affix a gate to allow of entrance on to Victoria Park from ICuri road. The euchre parties committee reported a disturbance which occurred at their last function by one or two persons who were the worse for liquor. It was resolved that the committee be given power to prosecute any person offending m the same manner in the future.
