CHRISTCHURCH, May 14. The criminal sittings were continued to-day. The case of Robert James Wright, "harged with attempting to carnally know a girt of five years of age, was continued. The jury, after 20 minutes' retirement, found prisoner not guilty. John Maine, convicted of entering a dwelling-house by night, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. The trial of Walter-Richard Sadler on a charge of unlawfully iising an instrument with intent to procure a miscarriage has commenced. The Crown's evidence was simitar to that given in the lower Court. The defence w^s that the act was O7ie of indecency only, and that no instrument was used, and there was no intention to commit a crime. The trial' is unfinished.
