CAPE TOWN, May 12. The^ Assembly debated Mr Smartt's motion in favor of an enquiry into native assaults. It was stated that twenty firms engaged in illicit liquor selling were largely responsible tor the Botha (the Premier) declared that the time was coming when they must seriously consider the prevention of intermingling whites and natives. He promised to set up a commission to fully investigate the matter.
