The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Ck>. report that at Kakaramea on May 6 the yards were well filled with a good-conditioned lot of cattle. There was a large attendance of buyers, and the demand for all classes was good, and practically everything was disposed of under the hammer Fat cows (prime) brought £5 17s 6d to £6 4s; lighter weights £5 Is to £5 7s; forward cows £4 4s to £4 18s; store cows £3 7s 6d to £3 17s 6d; aged cows £2 to £2 18s 6d; bulls £4 10s to £5 ss; 2^-year shorthorn'heifers, in calf, £6 4s; 18-month ditto (good) £5 2s 6d . to £5 7s 6d; weaner steers (good) £1 13s to £1 17s 6d; Jersey-Holstein weaner heifers (fair) £2 2s 6d to £2 6s; shorthorn .veaner heifers £1 12s 6d to £1 18s; fnixed weaners £1 5s to £1 12s 6d; ditto (small) 10s to £1 2s 6d; weaner pigs 10s; store lambs 6s 6d to 7s 6d.

At Eltham on May 6, we had a fair yarding of cattle of good quality. Store- cattle sold well but young cattle were a little dull; this was no doubt due to the date of the sale being altered. Fat cows (good) £5 15s to £6 ss; lighter £5 5s to £5 12s 6d; fresh-conditioned cows £4 18s to £5 Is; forward £4 3s to £4 16s; store £3 5s to £3 17s 6d; aged £1 los to £2 7s 6d; bulls (heavy) £410s to £6; ditto (light) £2 5s to £3 15s; 3vear heifers, in calf, choice £6 10s to £7; 18-month heifers £2 17s to £3 2s; 15-month steers £3 Is 6d; Jersey crossweaners £2 7s; mixed weaners £1 5s to £1 11s; small 13s 6d to £1 2s.

On May 9 we held a sale of thoroughbred horses at Tattersall's. About a dozen were offered, but bidding was slack and only four horses changed hands. A five-year-old mare by Soult— Belle Malone was purchased by Mr D. Barry, at 36 guineas; a mare and foal by Zimmerman was knocked down to Mr D. Coleman at £13; a gelding by Patronus —Acquillo, brought 12 guineas Mr W. Williams being the purchaser, and Mr James Bailey bought a yearling, Sylvia Park—Paku colt, for £7.
