The editor of the Wairarapa Age has received from Mr William Barton, of Featherston, an photograph of an extract from the d*fary of his grandfather, who arrived in New Zealand in 1816. The extract is as follows:—"On the morning of Wednesday, May 3, 1820, an agricultural plough was for the first time put into the land of New Zealand at Kiddi Kiddi, and I felt much pleasure m holding it after a team of six bullocks brought down by the Dromedary. I trust that this auspicious day will be remembered with gratitude, and its anniversary kept by ages yet unborn." Recently in the Monthly Paper of St. Anne's, Soho (London), the clergy congratulated their flock that their offertories were this year "singularly free from buttons, counterfeit coins, tokens, and debased foreign coins," and to record that "many people, who had the best seats in the church, passed the plate as if it were an infectious object."
